Privacy

Pour is run by Pour me Limited. Questions go to help@pourme.app.

If you are a guest

You do not make an account. When you join an event by its code we create an anonymous session on your device and ask for a name for the bar to call you. That name, the drinks you order and any note you add to an order are stored against that one event and shown to whoever is running the bar. Other guests at the same event can see your name and, if the host turns the leaderboard on, how many alcoholic drinks you have had. Nobody at another event can see anything about you.

If the host tells the bar you are not drinking alcohol tonight, that is stored as a flag on your guest record and enforced by the server, not just hidden on the screen.

When a host opens your individual drink history for the night, that read is logged, and you can ask us for the log.

Your name, orders and notes are deleted 30 days after the event. Nothing about you is used for advertising and nothing is sold.

If you are a host

We store your email address, your bar, its bottles and their levels, your events and the orders poured at them. Payment is handled by Stripe; we store a Stripe customer id and your subscription status, never a card number.

Photos you take to identify a bottle are stored privately and are only ever shown back to you through a short-lived link. Bottles the system identifies are added to a shared catalogue of names, sizes and strengths that helps every host; the catalogue holds no quantities and nothing that says whose shelf a bottle is on.

Who else sees data

  • Supabase hosts the database and sign-in.
  • Anthropic receives bottle photos, the names of bottles on a bar and the figures behind a restock list, so that its model can identify bottles, suggest drinks and phrase advice. It never receives a guest's name, note or drink history.
  • Stripe handles host billing.

Your rights

Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 you can ask what we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to help@pourme.app. For a guest that is usually quicker than the 30 days it would take to disappear on its own.
